I borrowed the outside, but the inside was all me. Actually it was born out of necessity....I feel a cliche coming.......Oh, I will resist the urge ( truth be told, im not a fan of cliches AT ALL).
So.......I went to put something in the freezer and the door wouldnt close. OK, I get it, time to clean out the freezer. One of the first things that caught my eye were these:
So...... not wanting to throw anything out (compiled with the promise I made to myself, to play Iron Chef, or maybe Top Chef: JessDesserts ( ha ha -get it??) and not buy any new baking ingredients until I used the majority of what I have in the house......I immediately thought of slush puppy cuppys!! They're cupcakes & they're blue! Its a win -win!
You can see it a little better here, but its still not showing up that well.
I tried a close up. Isnt that such a nice dome? That cuppy is so pretty. ( But dont tell his cuppy friends because they dont know he got to be in the spotlight. I dont want to promote jealousy in the cuppy world, it can get ugly very quickly!)
The pics are a little out of order, but instead of deleting it, ill just say that I used 1/2 of a red Dot as the top of the gumball machine. In hindsight ( insert yet another cliche here too) I dont think that red was the right choice, or even a Dot was the right choice. It just didnt show up very well. It kind of just blened with the rest of the colors.
and opps we're out of pics. If I knew how to insert pics on the bottom, please let me know because I feel VERY stupid right now.
Thankfully, its easy enough to describe. I would put the M&M's on the frosted side of the white cuppy first, then put that on top of the red cuppy thats waiting with frosting on top.
2 last steps: 1- add the 1/2 of the red DOt on the very top of the gumball machine and
2- take a white candy melt and tuen it so the flat side if facing up. Using an edible marker, write how much you would like your gumball to cost. For example, 1 cent, 5 cents, etc. Its your cuppie, you name the price!!!
Lastly, just add a small dab of frosting to the opposite side of the candy melt and place it on the front of the red cuppy.
Thats all folks! ! !
Thanks for stopping by and more importantly, thank you for putting up with me while im learning how to blog!! It will get better, I promise!!
Ok, the recipe was a simple WASC recipe that I just modified for the occassion
1 box white cake mix
1 cup AP flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water ( which I substituted for the ice pop liquid)
3 egg whites
1 cup sour cream
pinch of salt
1 T vanilla
bake at 350 until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, or the cake springs back to your touch. Whatever your comfortable with. Mine baked ~17 minutes.
